...The sky is blue! Here is a "must-have" azure jewel for the collector of true blues. Light cerulean blue flowers with exuberant ruffles and broad 11 cm-wide falls. From its parent "Yaquina Blue" it has inherited vigour and a long flowering season with 9 buds and discreet pale yellow beards.
Gracefully shaped flowers with sky blue standards and darker blue-violet plicata markings on ruffled ivory falls. Popular iris, prize-winner several times despite a moderate average count of buds (only 5 to 6).
Standards are a light lilac blue, darker at the base; wide, softly bluish white falls. Remarkable bright white beards tipped in coral-red. An exquisite shape with a number of small and tight ruffles. Moreover, a very soft and attractive fragrance.
Quite innovative in this range: purplish violet standards with lacy edges, falls slightly bolder with a narrow bronze border, old gold beards set against a small white background which lights up the whole flower. Descendant of "Serene Moment". Interesting and late-flowering.
Magnificent very pure sky blue, with small pale yellow beards towards the centre becoming white at their ends. Flowers close to the stem but well spaced and moderately ruffled. Very upright stalks and long-lasting flowers (9 – 10 buds on average). A good grower.
An elegant descendant of the excellent "Crowned Heads". Light blue standards and snow white falls with just a touch of greenish yellow near the sunshine yellow beards. Particularly attractive flowers with little ruffling. Vigorous growth.
A most unusual Amoena! Pure white standards and white falls peppered with medium purple especially toward the edges. Bright orange beards surrounded by yellow markings. Tremendously floriferous with an average of 12 buds and 3 branches per stalk. (Duncan 2008)
Whilst always seeking to be original, one could almost forget these subtle yet useful colours. Deliciously lavender pink with a very thin and discrete lavender beard. Quality branching with 8 buds on average, very prolific.
The cross "Chevalier de Malte" with "Conjuration" has given us many good seedlings, "Aurélie" is one of them. It has white standards with lavender on their edges and flaring purple-violet falls with a large white centre. The thick red beard ends in a white spur. Well-branched stalks. Winner at the Florence iris competition in 2007.
This historic variety (a descendent of "Dalmatica") features light to mid tones of lavender, lighter around the white, golden-tipped beards. Flowers are larger than the Iris Pallida's, and quite charming.
A very attractive solid light to medium blue with bright tangerine beards. This iris is a descendant of "Princesse Caroline de Monaco" and "Eau Vive", both blue with tangerine coloured beards. Medium sized flowers with a lovely shape. We feel that the pureness of tone compensates for the relatively small number of buds (6-7 on average).
Faïence de Gien's excellent seedling brother is very elegant but taller. Its exceptional lower branching stalks carry 7 to 8 buds. It features milk-white standards whilst the very wide white falls have lovely violet and purplish black borders (over 2 cm) and are veined with fine lines of the same colour which run parallel to the golden yellow beards.
Soft lemon yellow standards, more intense at their base, white to cream falls with a wide deep violet-blue border, spreading towards the centre. Pale orange beards edged with yellow. The numerous flowers (up to 11) are enlivened by regularly-spaced waved edges and the stalks are perfectly branched. One of the best, if not the best, of this combination of colours.
Soft lavender standards and white falls tinted very pale pinkish lavender, contrasted against the bright tangerine beards. An iris with lots of finesse and great style! Very ruffled flowers, 8 to 9 buds per stem. Vigorous grower with good resistance to disease.
Straw-yellow amoena which is lighter around the butter- yellow beards. The falls feature graceful frills and a thin white border (1 to 2 mm) and the edges are speckled with brown-red. An exquisite shape.
In our opinion, the blackest among the "black" tall beardeds. Standards and falls show the same intensity of black and the beards are black too. Elegant flowers, moderately ruffled. Slightly musky fragrance and very vigorous growth. Pleasant fragrance.
Tall stems, large ruffled flowers, extremely vigorous: it is a new deep violet of noble stature. Beards of the same colour. Each rhizome can produce three or more fans and each stem carries 7 to 8 flowers.
Marvellous really pure mid-blue, bred from two equally wonderful blues: "Yaquina Blue" and "Oregon Skies". Yellow beards tipped with blue, nearly invisible in this cerulean ocean. Very big flowers (10 cm x 16 cm), gently ruffled.
Flowers of immense size (17 cm in diameter) showing a new colour pattern. The standards with finely serrated edges are creamy peach and the white falls have a unique pink-purple border (4 cm wide). Bright tangerine beards bring more light to this colour carnival. Round flowers moderately ruffled.
White just flushed pinkish cream, this being slightly darker at the centre of the standards. Pale yellow beards tipped with orange and shouldered with apricot. Gracious flowers with crimped edges. Sometimes reblooms at the end of summer.
Magnificent contrast between the immaculate white standards and purpled magenta falls. Clear yellow beards prolonged by a white medial stripe. It has the vigour of its parent "Jazzed Up" and flowers generously because of its profusion of buds: 11 to 14 on each stem!
One of the most innovative American introductions since 2000! White ruffled standards and falls with a white center and a very broad navy blue border (at least 3 cm) which gently washes the edges of the white central spot. Yellow beards. Most interesting for iris breeders.
What's new in "Cape Perpetua"? Not its colour: light and plain blue with white beards, but its shape: both standards and falls show lacy, frilly edges and this is unique in its category. A really charming blue iris!
White standards with a golden yellow edge; falls are white, amply peppered with burgundy-red all but for a white area around the golden yellow beard. Falls are also edged in yellow. Seedling brother to 'Ring Around Rosie'.
Exquisite flowers with pure white standards and falls of the same immaculate white, and a very fine dark blue border. Yellow beards tipped with white, sometimes extended by a white spur. Excellent shape, with tightly crimped edges. Irresistibly charming!
